jules' undersea lodge
in continuing with my hobby of diving vicariously, i'm now reading a book called
neutral buoyancy. in it, the author talks about his stay at a hotel in key largo named
jules' undersea lodge. i came to work today and immediately did a search so i could see pictures and get an idea of what this place looked like. here's a good
story about it.
it's called an "undersea lodge" because it is actually underwater -- you have to dive to get to it! you come up through a "moon pool" and then can retire to your room to shower, watch tv, etc. or you can spend the whole time diving. your windows look out at a scene 21 feet underwater. a chef dives nightly to the lodge with a waterproof briefcase filled with the night's meal's ingredients.
sounds cool, huh? only downside is that it's $400 per person, per night. oy!
